Get your (CGP) Certified Green Professional Designation

HBAM is offering you the opportunity pursue a specialization in an increasingly active building area, of great concern to energy conscientious consumers.

Overview of the Certified Green Professional Designation

In a two course program, learn how green homes provide buyers with lower energy costs and higher value. This course for building professionals discusses strategies for incorporating green-building principles into homes without driving up the cost of construction. Students will learn how green homes provide buyers lower maintenance, better indoor air quality and better long-term value. Techniques are also discussed for competitively differentiating your home products with increased indoor environmental quality as well as energy and resource efficiency.

Through the National Green Building Program, the National Association of Home Builders is helping its members move the practice of green building into the mainstream. Energy efficiency, water and resource conservation, sustainable or recycled products, and indoor air quality are increasingly incorporated into the everyday process of home building.

How does the designation process work? For the CGP designation, two classes must be taken. A test is given after each class. Upon successfully completing both classes, candidates apply to NAHB University of Housing for a certificate of graduation. Graduates receive a certificate, press release, lapel pin and the right to use the CGP designation following their name in all business promotion and are verified through a listing on the NAHB website, which provides additional marketing value.
